How to Play

Frequently Asked Questions

Strategic Variant: How many Actions per turn?
4 Actions per turn, with the “Speed” player receiving a 5th Action. Use the dice only for Not-for-Profits or if a card requires it.

Can I pay someone to do or not to do something?
Yes. Assets can be traded between players at any time. Negotiations can be made whenever.
Auctions for vacant Not-for-Profits or Toll Booths: How is location determined?
Winning bidder chooses which vacant location they will occupy.

Can tying players make a deal for who wins the auction?
Yes, deals can always be made.
Fly onto any Toll Booth. Does it cost 1 Action to come down?
Yes, even if you own it.
Danis – What If there is no current president?
You may play Danis to initiate an election or just hold onto her until there is an unfavorable President in power.

Dr. Crispy, Madame Crispy, and Crispy Jr.: Do they have to be played in order to gain Respect?
Played or unplayed count towards the total.

Slim Papa – Does this count as the first Not-for-Profit purchased?
Yes. A trade is still a purchase. You spent 2 Toll Booths for the Not-for-Profit.
Gerry M.D. – If my roll is 1-3, can I choose not to pass and do something else instead?
No, you must pass the Toll Booth if you used Gerry M.D’s dice roll.
Can I end my turn ON a Toll Booth
Yes. You will need to spend 1 Action to get off the Toll Booth your next turn. Another player may purchase the Toll Booth from under you if you end your turn without purchasing it.
Can you explain Mergers a little better?
Here is an example:

My Retail Business in the Green District is profiting 2 Gold and 1 Employee per turn.

My Retail Business in the Blue District is profiting 2 Gold and 1 Clout per turn, however it has been Improved for +1 Clout. So it is currently profiting 2 Gold and 2 Clout per turn.

The “Cost to Merge” is what I must pay to activate this Merger: 2 clout, 1 Employee.

Now I put both Business Tokens on the Retail Business that I am keeping.

New Profits reads ”6 Gold, 1 of each Resource”.

My base pay from the two Businesses was 4 Gold, 1 Employee, and 1 Clout.

My new base pay is 6 Gold, and 1 of each Resource. So I gain 2 Gold and 1 Time per turn by completing the Merger. The Blue District Business was previously Improved (1 Clout), so that is added back in.

My profits from this Merged Business are 6 Gold, 2 Clout, 1 Time, 1 Employee per turn. The Business location I gave up is back on the market.
El Presidente – Do I pay taxes per Merged business?
A. No. Max 4 Gold per player.
